Johan Elmander was snapped up by Feyenoord at just 18 from Swedish club Orgryte after showing a great deal of promise in his youth, but could not find his way into the Rotterdam side's first team.
Loan spells followed and he impressed at both Djurgardens and NAC Breda, before Danish outfit Brondby signed him in 2004.
Elmander has done well there, and while his goalscoring record is not great, he regularly creates goals for those around him; indeed his form won him the Danish league's Player of the Year award in 2005.
Hugely versatile and able to play as a central attacking midfielder, on either wing, or up front, Elmander is quick, tall, strong and creative, and will be a valuable squad player for Sweden in Germany.
