Still very much on the fringes of the Tunisian first XI, Anis Ayari played just 17 minutes in qualifying for this tournament over two matches.
Having made his debut against Norway in March 2002, a 20-year-old Ayari scored his first goal for his country in the friendly against South Africa but has failed to truly build on that flying start by nailing down a regular first-team place.
Currently playing his club football in Turkey for Samsunspor after joining them from Stade Tunisien in the summer of 2004, Ayari is a defender by trade but does have the ability to play in the centre of midfield.
